My Step-Brother Frankenstein

Topic: Chechnya/Russia

Russian Film Reveals Soldiers' Chechnya Trauma... Reuters.

I have been following the war in the break-away Russian republic of Chechnya for several years now. While all wars are tragic, this one in particular bothers me because of how hopeless the situation seems. Human rights violations on a level with Bosnia are ongoing, and the conflict remains on genocide watch of many human rights organizations. Yet it receives very little press, and this I feel is because nobody wants to anger Russia. With increasing terrorism associated with Chechen rebels Russian President Vladimir Putin likens his war to that of the War on Terror. Unless some dramatic change is made in Russian policy, the outlook is very grim.
